Code of Ethics, General Confidentiality
I am certified as Clinical Psychologist through Japanese Certification Board of Clinical Psychologist and hold Diploma in Process Work through Process Work Institute in Portland, Oregon. I adhere to the codes of ethics of both organizations. In the United Kingdom, my services fall under the category of counseling and psychotherapy.
I keep all your information and the content of our communication confidential. Our email exchanges will not be circulated to any third parties. From time to time, I may take some of the content from our exchanges to supervision, but your identity will be kept confidential at all times. Supervision ensures that I maintain the high standard of practice I aim to deliver and that I work within the code of ethics I abide to.
Data Protection
At the end of our session, all client material is removed from my computer and treated in complete confidence. Our exchanges will be stored securely on a password protected memory stick. No identifying names or numbers will be kept as these are replaced with a client ID number.
Emergency
All counselors and psychotherapists working through any medium are required by law to break the confidentiality if we feel our clients are in danger of hurting themselves or someone else, or express intent to break the law. In the case of you expressing a need for emergency support during our work, I will request your permission to contact an emergency, your medical doctor or a family member and/or recommend alternative forms of support to psychotherapy / counseling to ensure the best level of care for you.
My services are not suitable when you are experiencing acute distress or when you recognize that you are in danger of hurting yourself and/or others. In such instances, please call an emergency number, head for a nearest hospital with A&E (Accident & Emergency) facility, or contact your GP, family doctor, or your family member as soon as possible.
